Thank You Darlin! XXOO
Sonoma's Housing Bubble is of great interest to me and a handful of local residents (judging by the stats counter), but I find it incredibly flattering that it is also of interest to some pretty sharp cookies outside of Sonoma.
It also appears the Press Democrat doesn't seem to appreciate facts as much as The New York Times.
Damon Darlin (most appropriate name I might add) of The New York Times, took an interest in our local bubble scene and gave us a little write up.
Many thanks Damon!

"The assumption that the real estate market won’t come crashing down is built on the idea that the economy is strong."
"The Sonoma Housing Bubble blog lays out a convincing case for why homeowners in Sonoma county, north of San Francisco, ought to worry. It rolls out a list of statistics showing the anemic job growth in the area....."

YOU ARE FAMOUS!my email doesn't seem to be working.would you be kind enough to send a test msg to tomtoad@sonic.net? i'll buy you a cup of coffee, and ask for your autograph too!dang isn't it nice to see the major media talk abou the relationship between jobs and affordability?
Wow! Athena, the Grey Lady actually noticed. Kewl!
We had lunch today with another old friend who also doesn'ty belive housing is ever going to go down..meanwhile she discussed wher daugher and son in law having to bring money to the closing of their house...say whaaaaaa!
We made our deadline..what are we going to have our housing bubble gossip fest?
;-) I am very flattered that we are fit to print for the NYT!
Yay about your deadline. how about Sunday or Monday?
;-) I am very flattered that we are fit to print for the NYT!
It's a testament to your objectivity over local papers! What's the local rag worth if people like you can out-scoop them? Congrats!
reskeptic...the pd is only useful for the ads.it has the most abysmal coverage of any local paper i have seen it is actually worse than the majority of highschool papers, and athena has the only decent coverage i have found in the county where i live.i'm very thankful for it,a lot of work goes into this and what comes out is good information and thoughtful commentary...never an easy thing to find, btween this blog, marin bubble and public data sources i can follow my local market in a couple of hours a day.
Sitting in the boulangerie this morning I noticed there were more out of towners than usual. I assumed the Jazz Festival was the reason. A woman sat down beside my hsband and me and asked if we were residents. We said yes, we lived here.
She asked me, if there were a lot of houses for sale up here in Sonaom. I said , yes. Then, she asked me how long it usually took for a house to sell up here. I said about 100 days now, as prices were going down. She got very thoughtful after that, and didn;t say anything more. I didn't ask her whether some RE agent was suing scare tactics to jam a piece of property up her butt, or if she knew someone up here trying to sell or what.Going home my husband said rather amusedly, "you enjoy being a bear don't you?".
At another table I heard a tourist who was interested in the town ask another local what all he did to earn a living up here. The guy just laughed.
I forgot about the jazz festival. Had to be in SF this morning for an off the clock event and when I got back this afternoon I couldn't believe all the people milling about. Took me 20 minutes just to get through the plaza are!
Maybe we should start leaving some copies of the blog articles for the poor unsuspecting tourists to find. Leaving them clueless is tantamount to spraying them with sugar water for the mosquitoes.
;-) The least we could do is give them a little protection from the local starving rat real estate community.
congrats. Your blog rocks.

Thank you David! That is high praise indeed coming from you! xxoo ;-)
NYT, the last bastion of the Communist Republic in the United States. Let's all kiss it's ass.
Press Dumbocrat is owned by the New York Times. Should we kiss their ass too?
You may have noticed that shortly after Damon gave SHB some press the NYT pulled the plug on his excellent bubble reporting. I've been meaning to blog about that and how it has gone unreported that the NYT has totally caved to advertisers and ignored the bubble. All the news that's fit to print my ass.
